When it comes to Smartphones, you can download ring tones by the case load. At smartphone.net, you can get a bundle of 20 different human noises for a mere $4.99! When you think about that, you are only paying 24 cents per noise, which is a far better deal than getting each ring tone for between $1.99 and $3.99 elsewhere. This appeals to the type of people that shop at Costco and other bulk stores. However, since I can’t find a way to preview these “noises” on the webpage, I think I will have to pass on the bulk deal. This particular package claims it includes a mixture of both men and women treating us with a combination of belches, sneezes, coughs, kissing sounds, yawns, moans (perverted or painful?), snores, laughs, farts (is it wrong that I hope this effect was made digitally?), hiccups and screams.
For those who are a little more sophisticated, there is a package called BIG Ringtones Collection. This package deal gives you 90 gorgeous ring tones to play with for only $19.99 – that’s 22 cents per ring tone.
The problem I find with using these packages deals is you don’t really know what you are getting besides a collection is a certain category. If you want a specific song for your ring tone, and don’t plan on changing your tone too often, Smartphone is not the best way for you to go. You’ll get a lot, but how much of it will you actually enjoy or use? That is for you to decide after you have downloaded a large amount of tones for one price and go fishing through them. I actually don’t know – maybe you will luck out and like them all, thus causing a difficulty in choosing a ring tone. Or maybe you’ll lose out and not like any of them, which would also make picking one very complex. Rest assured that the packages with lots of digital ring tones are going to be comparable to the sounds that your phone comes with, and you won’t get a large amount of true tones for a great price.
In any case, I would rather pay more for what I want than less for what I don’t want. There isn’t much use is paying more for a collection of 90 tunes if you aren’t going to use them all (or even know if you are going to like them before you buy).
